Terms of service
The agreement between you and Regimate when you use our apps, website and services for personal use.
In short. Regimate is free for personal use. Register only things that are yours, be honest and kind in messages, and never pay a finder before you have your item back. We'll do our best to help you get things back, but we can't guarantee it. Premises Plus is an optional paid subscription you can cancel at any time.
These terms apply when you use Regimate for personal, non-business purposes. If you use Regimate Enterprise or the Finder API for a business or organisation, our Business terms and, for the API, our Finder API terms apply as well. Our Privacy policy and Acceptable use policy form part of these terms.
1. About us and these terms
Regimate is a trading name of Echo Thirteen Capital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15053443), registered office 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX (we, us). These terms cover regimate.app, my.regimate.app, the Regimate apps for iPhone and Android, our help centre and anything else we provide under the Regimate name (the Service).
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Who can use Regimate
- You must be 18 or over to create an account.
- Anyone can use an item's or property's public page to contact its owner. If you're under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to help.
- Accounts are for individual people. You mustn't create accounts by automated means or to scrape the Service.
3. Your account
You need to verify your email address before you can sign in. Keep your sign-in details, Emergency PIN and security answers private, and tell us straight away at support@regimate.app if you think someone else has access to your account. You can see and sign out your other sessions from Settings. You're responsible for what happens in your account unless it was caused by our failure to take reasonable care.
4. What Regimate does, and doesn't do
Regimate lets you register your things, make them identifiable with QR labels, NFC stickers, lock screens and Regimate tags, and lets people who find them message you anonymously. You can mark items lost or stolen, transfer them to someone else, set up Emergency Access, and monitor properties with Regimate Premises.
Regimate is a registry and messaging service. We don't take custody of items, collect or hand over items, act as an agent for you or a finder, verify who owns an item, or guarantee that anything will be found or returned. A registration on Regimate isn't proof of legal ownership.
5. Registering items
When you register an item you confirm that you own it, or that the owner has asked you to register it, and that what you tell us about it is accurate. A serial number or IMEI can only be registered to one item across the whole registry. If you find your item is already registered by someone else, contact us and we'll investigate. We may remove registrations we reasonably believe are false.
A personal account can register up to 50 items. Equipment owned or managed by a business should be registered with Regimate Enterprise.
6. Finders, messages and rewards
- Messages are moderated automatically and may be reviewed by our team. We may delay, flag or block messages that look unsafe, abusive or fraudulent.
- If you offer a reward, it's a promise between you and the finder. We don't hold, guarantee, process or pay rewards, and we're not responsible for disputes about them.
- Never send money before you have your item back. Genuine finders don't charge fees, and Regimate will never ask you for payment to return an item.
- Meet somewhere busy and public, or arrange a handover at a police station. Any meeting is at your own risk, and we're not responsible for what happens at it.
7. Regimate Premises
Regimate Premises is a notification service, not an emergency service. We don't dispatch responders, monitor alarms or guarantee that a keyholder will see or respond to an alert. Anyone reporting an emergency should contact the emergency services first.
- You must have the right to register the property and to give us your keyholders' details, and you should tell your keyholders that you've added them.
- A reporter's name is included in alerts to keyholders, and their mobile and email are shared with you so you can reply. You must use those details only to deal with the alert.
- False, malicious or vexatious reports are prohibited.
8. Emergency Access
Emergency Access lets you, or up to three trusted contacts you choose, get limited access to your items when you can't sign in. Sessions last two hours, can only list items, mark them lost and reply to finders, and every attempt is logged and reported to you. You're responsible for choosing a strong PIN and answers and for the people you trust. We may restrict Emergency Access if we suspect misuse. We can't guarantee it will always be available.
9. Premises Plus subscriptions
Personal use of Regimate is free. Premises Plus is an optional upgrade that costs £9.99 a month or £99.99 a year, including VAT. It covers your whole account.
- Renewal: it renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel.
- Cancelling: you can cancel at any time from Manage subscription in Settings. You'll keep Premises Plus until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting a property doesn't cancel your subscription.
- Your 14-day right to cancel: as a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of first subscribing and get a refund. Because Premises Plus starts as soon as you ask for it, we may deduct an amount for the time you've used. To cancel in this period, use Manage subscription and email support@regimate.app.
- Payments are taken by Stripe. If a payment fails we'll retry it, and if we can't collect it your subscription will end and your account will move back to the free plan. Nothing is deleted, but you won't be able to add more than the free plan allows.
- Price changes never apply part-way through a period you've paid for. We'll tell you before a new price applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it does.
None of this affects your statutory rights.
10. Your content
You keep ownership of what you upload: item details, photos, documents and messages. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and display it only so we can run the Service, including showing the public parts of a registration to people who view it. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except where we need to keep it as described in our Privacy policy.
You confirm you have the right to upload your content and that it doesn't break the law or anyone's rights. We re-encode photos when they're uploaded, which removes location and other hidden metadata. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
11. Acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable use policy. In particular, you mustn't register things you don't own, harass or scam people, try to identify or locate other users, scrape the registry, or interfere with the Service's security. We may warn you, restrict messaging, suspend or close your account, and report illegal activity to the police.
12. Regi and automated features
Regi, our assistant, uses AI to help you describe items and to help finders identify what they've found. AI can be wrong, so check anything important. Don't rely on Regi for legal, safety or emergency advice.
13. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Regimate running, but we can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we make a change that significantly affects a paid subscription, we'll tell you in advance and you can cancel and get a refund for any unused period you've paid for.
14. Our intellectual property
The Regimate name, logos and the Service itself belong to us or our licensors. You can use the Service as these terms allow, but you mustn't copy, modify, reverse-engineer or resell it, except where the law allows. Regimate QR labels you print are for your own items.
If you believe content on Regimate infringes your rights, email support@regimate.app with the subject “IP infringement notice”, identifying the right, the content (for example its Regimate ID), your contact details and a statement that your notice is accurate and that you're authorised to make it.
15. Our responsibility to you
If we fail to comply with these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable.
We're not responsible for:
- an item not being found or returned;
- what finders, reporters, keyholders, trusted contacts or other users do or say, including at any meeting;
- rewards or other arrangements between users;
- business losses, as the Service is for personal use;
- events outside our reasonable control.
Where the law allows us to limit our liability, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim and £50.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that can't be limited by law, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer. If defective digital content we supply damages a device or digital content belonging to you, we'll repair the damage or compensate you, unless you failed to follow our instructions or install free updates.
16. Ending your use of Regimate
You can stop using Regimate and delete your account at any time from Settings or from Profile in the app. Deleting your account removes your items, messages and properties and cancels any subscriptions.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, or to protect other people. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you first and explain why. If we close your account without good reason, we'll refund any unused period of a subscription you've paid for.
17. App store terms
If you download a Regimate app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and we're responsible for the app and its content. Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you can tell Apple and it may refund the price you paid for the app (Regimate's apps are free). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You must also follow the app store's own terms.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Service or the law. We'll tell you about significant changes by email or in the app before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before the change applies; continuing to use Regimate after that means you accept the new terms.
19. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts. If you have a complaint, please contact support@regimate.app first and we'll try to put it right.
20. General
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, and we'll make sure that doesn't reduce your rights. You may not transfer your account. No one else has rights under these terms except as set out in section 17.
