Acceptable use policy
The rules that keep Regimate safe for owners, finders and everyone in between.
In short. Only register what's yours, tell the truth, be kind, and never use Regimate to find, follow, pressure or scam anyone.
This policy applies to everyone who uses Regimate: account holders, finders, people raising property alerts, Enterprise users and Finder API partners. It forms part of our Terms of service and Business terms.
1. Keep the registry honest
- Don't register things you don't own or aren't authorised to register, and never register goods you know or suspect are stolen.
- Don't make false lost or stolen reports, including to support an insurance claim.
- Don't impersonate another person or organisation, or misrepresent your connection to an item, property or organisation.
- Don't put Regimate labels or tags on things that aren't yours.
2. Respect people's privacy and safety
- Don't use Regimate to identify, locate, follow or monitor a person, including by attaching a tag or label to their belongings without their knowledge.
- Don't try to find out who an owner, finder, reporter or keyholder is beyond what they've chosen to share.
- Don't use search, the lost items map or the Finder API to profile people or build a database of personal information.
- Don't share someone else's personal details in a message without their permission.
3. Message responsibly
- Only contact an owner about something you've actually found.
- No scams: never ask for money, fees, codes or personal information in return for an item. Advance “finder's fees” are not allowed.
- No harassment, threats, intimidation, hate speech, or sexual or violent content.
- No spam, advertising, phishing links or malware.
- Don't raise false, malicious or prank property alerts. If there's an emergency, call the emergency services first.
4. Don't misuse the platform
- Don't scrape, crawl or bulk-query Regimate, or use automated tools except our official API within its limits.
- Don't get around rate limits, messaging restrictions, bans, plan limits or free-trial rules, or create extra accounts to do so.
- Don't try to access accounts, Emergency Access portals or data that aren't yours, including by guessing PINs, answers or codes.
- Don't probe, scan or test our security, except as allowed by our Responsible disclosure policy.
- Don't upload malicious files or content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Don't resell or sublicense access to Regimate without our written agreement.
- Don't use Regimate for anything illegal, or to help anyone else break the law.
5. Reporting a problem
You can report a conversation from within Regimate, or email support@regimate.app. Our team aims to review reports within 24 hours. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services.
6. What we do
Messages and photos are moderated automatically, and our team reviews reports. Depending on what happened, we may:
- remove content or registrations;
- warn the person responsible;
- stop them sending messages, including from their IP address for up to 30 days;
- suspend or close their account, or revoke API keys;
- report illegal activity to the police and co-operate with their investigation.
We act in proportion to what happened and, where it's safe to, we'll tell you what we've done and why. If you think we've made a mistake, email support@regimate.app and a person will review it.
